Flying into Branson has never been easier than it will be with the opening of the new airport, located approximately 10 minutes from the heart of Branson’s entertainment district. Today marks the first operating day of the Branson Airport (BKG) with the first flight taking off at 9 a.m. This airport is the first and only privately-funded airport in the country. The airport is located right off of Highway 65.
Currently, only two airlines are flying in and out of the Branson Airport. AirTran Airways offers low airfares to over 50 destinations, including Chicago-O’Hare (ORD) and Hartsfield-Atlanta (ATL). Sun Country Airlines offers flights to and from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP). Plans are eventually to add more airlines.
The Branson Airport offers a full service bar and restaurant, Ozarks-themed decorations, and a Bass Pro gift shop. Also, the Branson Airport has an Enterprise Rent-a-Car located on the property for car rental needs, and Branson Gray Line is contracted to provide other ground transportation, including airport shuttles, taxis, and limousines.
The airport opened today after a weekend celebration that featured three days of air shows with professional aviators.

On the airline website they have round-trip from Boston for $215. And the Branson Shows website seemed to offer advanced reservations on nearly everything in Branson. Time for an Ozarks vacation!
This is only gonna make Branson traffic even more packed then ever!!!
This is going to be a major addition to Branson.
This should help those who want to visit Branson by quite a bit. Being no large international airports in the area this is sure to help Branson blossom!
This is great..Branson needed an airport it will be so much more accessible for those that want to visit!
Finally I am ready for this airport I hate driving 3 hours to kc, st louis, or tulsa now I can take a short thirty minute cruise to Branson and fly to many dif destinations.
This will be great for Branson.
Branson will probably become more popular than ever with the addition of the airport.
I can’t wait to use this airport. It will definitely be cheaper and more convenient than flying out of Kansas City. Also, traffic shouldn’t be that bad because it’s not right in the city.
I think this will be good for the locals, now we don’t have to drive very far to the airport!
I agree Jen this would be great when Flying in or out for us locals as well. It can only mean more good things to come. IE more new ppl flying into the area more new cool shows and attractions that we may soon see.
This is going to be a great addition to the Branson area.
It’s about time they got an airport! I am so stoked!
I am excited because now I have more airports to choose from, so I will know I am getting the best deal in the sky.
I didn’t go to the air show this last weekend, but everyone that I know did, said the new airport was a really nice place, and will bring more visitors to Branson.
branson is going to get packed with tourist! more cst for us
This new airport is going to open up Branson even more for tourist. I can’t wait to see the results.
I think this airport opening will make travel to and from Branson so much easier for tourist, which means more people coming.
This morning on the radio i heard that the branson air port is now flying to 50 cities, and they do fly to and from Dallas.
The Branson airport offers several destinations! It’s great to have so many options for travel now.
Weirdest airport I have been to yet in the US. I accidentally left my sportcoat in the airport and called the airport at 4pm the same down and found out the airport had already closed for the day. Enterprise is the only rental car company and they do a great job of convincing you to pay for the insurance.
Meanwhile, I do like the motif inside – it’s kind of like coming to the Cracker Barrel airport – makes you want to sit in a rocking chair.
I forgot to mention how friendly and helpful the employees of the airport and Famous Daves are – you will like these people! Much different than the usual airport employees. Clearly they aim to please.
In particular, Pam that works with the airport is top class and so is Wayne at Famous Dave’s.
Its a good idea to have this airport but man its gonna be sooo packed come vaca season!
I checked out some prices and they’ve got some really good deals for this airport..should take advantage of soon!
I passed the new airport when I drove through Branson last weekend. I was suprised at how close it was! It really is just a five minute drive.
Throw in an Airport Hilton and shuttle service and you won’t be able to keep people away from Branson.
Save me a window seat!
Will hopefully make using the airports around here easier. More direct flights without lay-overs in Dallas or Chicago I hope.
I’m going on vacation at the end of June. I’ll have to look into flying out of Branson if possible.
Thank-you Branson for this wonderfull airport. Just minutes away from Diamond City, Arkansas and the lake. Will make my travel plans much more enjoyable. The clubs and Bull Shoals Lake all together in one area, great fun!!
Finally; Branson’s such a tourist attraction, it just makes sense to have an easier way to get there. I wonder what this is going to do to Springfield’s airport, though.
Update: direct flights to Milwaukee have been cancelled, and more flights to Atlanta have been added.
More flights to Atlanta? That’s great! We’ll definitely be using the Branson airport from now on.
The airport for branson will be a great new addition and make travel easier for the new comers to the area
I still say this Airport is goin to pack branson more than it already is!! but a good idea
i have checked out there prices. I will definatly be using them to fly..way cheap.
This is goin to make Branson even more popular! which is good cause that possibly means new attractions =)
I was talkin with a friend the other day & she had said that her daughter purchased a round flight i wanna say to NY or somewhere like that for real cheap!
I’m flying out of there in less than a month to go to Orlando! I can’t wait to see if it’s as good as I’ve heard from everyone.
I’m so excited that they finally opened an airport in Branson. It will really save me a long drive from the other airports!
going to vac in Branson , 1st time. I like that this airport is close , but is there any other car rental around? Enterprise seems pricey
The airport was wonderful! Reminded me of Bass Pro a little, in its construction, and everything was incredibly professional and easily handled. I really enjoyed going through it, and plan to again!
maryann: you are correct i beleive – enternprise is the only car rental at the airport and with no competition they do seem high priced.
I have heard such wonderful things about the new airport. They supposedly have great rates and a good flight schedule.
