FLW Outdoors Fishing Competition Returns to Branson, MO


The Forrest L. Wood Outdoors Fishing Competition, also known as the FLW Outdoors Fishing Competition, is coming to Branson, Missouri. The tournament will take place March 3rd through the 6th at the majestic Table Rock Lake. The natural beauty of the lake as well as the great fishing the lake has to offer is sure to make the competition enjoyable for those who enter it.

The competition will be for professional fishers as well as co-anglers. There is a $4,000 entry fee, which must be paid before being eligble to start fishing. Though the entry fee may seem expensive, the prizes to be won are great. The money prize for the first place winner on the professional level is $100,000. The prize money is projected on the assumption at least 150 boats will be in the competition. No more than 160 boats will be allowed to enter.

For everyone not participating in the fishing event, the entire Table Rock State Park Marina is closed. No one will be allowed to fish within 50 feet of any Commercial Marinas. For those entered or entering the fishing competition, good luck and happy fishing!

Charity Fishing Tournament Held on Lake TaneycomoLilley’s Landing Resort and Marina located on Lake Taneycomo in Branson is hosting a charity fishing tournament to benefit the Branson Fire and Police Auxiliary. The first annual “Guns and Hoses Fishing Tournament” will take place on Saturday, August 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The entry fee for the tournament is $75, and teams are limited to two men. Prizes will be given for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams, and other prizes may be given for big fish. A raffle drawing will also be held during the event. Each team receives a raffle ticket, and additional tickets may be bought for $5.

Lilley’s Landing is also offering boat rentals for half-price to teams. Teams may still bring their own boat, however. A meal will be served after the prize winners are announced.

Catch the Competitive Excitement of the Masters and Team Trout Championships in Branson, MO


While Hot Winter Fun is ensuring Branson visitors will find a healthy choice of shows available throughout the winter it is far from the only reason to pay a visit to Branson sooner rather than later. For anglers and outdoor enthusiasts in particular, this January 31, 2009 will mark the ever popular Masters Trout Championship with the Team Trout Championship following on February 28, 2009. Both fishing tournaments follow catch-and-release rules and will be held on Lake Taneycomo, with each offering a great time of exploring the natural beauty of the Ozarks while competing for cash prizes!

Hosted by Lilley’s Landing Resort and Marina, the Masters Trout Championship allows for two-person teams with cash prizes being paid out to the top four teams. And while the Masters Trout Championship is quickly approaching, participants are allowed to register right up to the start of the tournament on January 31. The registration fee is $50 per team.

The Team Trout Championship, also held at Lilley’s Landing, closely follows suite with the Masters. The registration fee is still $50 for two-person teams and registration is allowed up to the day of the event. And just as with the Masters Trout Championship, the Team Trout Championship will also be paying out cash prizes to the top four teams, as well as prizes for the both the biggest rainbow and brown trout.

As for the quality of fishing you can expect to find, Lake Taneycomo in the winter is a veritable hot bed for trout. In total, the Missouri Department of Conservation has reports stocking the lake with 46,800 rainbow trout throughout January, and another 39,100 in February.
