Yakov’s Theatre Presents Neal McCoy in Limited Engagement Series


Neal McCoyFor a limited time in 2009, legendary country music entertainer Neal McCoy will be performing at the Yakov Smirnoff Theatre. McCoy has performances stretching through August and then returns in October for more shows.

McCoy is a veteran in the country music industry and has hits such as “The Shake,” “You Gotta Love That,” “For A Change,” and “Wink.” He will be performing these hits and many more from his 11 albums.

McCoy has previously won an Entertainer of the Year award, and many of his albums have received various awards and gold or platinum status.

The Yakov Smirnoff Theatre hosts a variety of shows throughout the year, most notable the comedy and variety show of Yakov Smirnoff. For a limited time this summer, the theater also hosted Yakov’s Moscow Circus.

Neal McCoy’s performances are sure to be family-friendly and appeal to all ages, and there is a family pass available, which includes admission for two adults and up to four children ages 13 and younger.

Branson Landing and Peter Pan Partner in Shoe Drive


Peter Pan MusicalBranson Landing is a great place to spend the day shopping, enjoying the scenery, and dining in one of the delicious restaurants, but from now until August 9, it is also a great spot to do some good for the community.

Branson Landing, together with OnMedia, The Mansion Entertainment, and Media Center, is hosting the 3rd Annual School Shoes for Kids shoe drive. All donated shoes go to help Ozarks-area students who need a little help before school begins again.

If you wish to donate, all you need to do is bring a pair of new tennis shoes to the Branson Landing and drop them off at Bass Pro Shops, Famous Footwear, Journeys, Justice Just for Girls, New Balance Branson, Payless, and Tradehome Shoes. Of course, you can always buy the shoes at any of the great Branson Landing stores.

In the special partnership with OnMedia and Peter Pan, each donor can receive a child’s ticket to Peter Pan, starring Cathy Rigby, for each pair of shoes donated.

Gospel Music Gathering Comes to Branson


Southern Gospel MusicFans of gospel music should mark their calendars for the 1st Annual Branson Gospel Music Convention (BGMC), which is coming to Branson July 14 to 17. The convention will be held at the Branson Convention Center, which is adjacent to the Hilton Branson Convention Center hotel.

YMR Music Productions, run by Rod and Kelly Burton, is putting on this event. The convention will feature over 200 artists, live performances, an awards show, a talent contest, and an exhibit hall.

A number of well-known Southern Gospel acts are headlining the convention and will perform in the evening concerts. These groups include The Blackwood Quartet, The Chuck Wagon Gang, Florida Boys, The Stamps, and The Paynes.

The convention features a variety of events each day. Some mornings begin with a worship service, and Wednesday morning features a special talent contest. Sponsored by HIS Choice Music, the contest is open to any artist not affiliated with a record label. The top prize of the contest is a 10-song recording package from HIS Choice, and there are also second and third place prizes with discounts on recording packages.

Free concerts will be given daily, from approximately 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. These concerts will feature a variety of performers, most of whom will have displays in the exhibit hall, which will be open daily.

Nightly concerts begin at 6 p.m., with the exception of Thursday night, due to the special Diamond Awards presentation. The concert begins at 8:30 p.m. that night. Although the morning and afternoon concerts are free, tickets must be purchased for the evening concerts. Tickets can be purchased at the BGMC Web site. Ticket prices range from $20 to $15, with special prices for children. Package prices are also available.

Times and performances are subject to change. All events take place at the Branson Convention Center.

The slow, steady 100-foot rise to the top is enough to make any ardent thrill-seeker tremble.

Additional fun at the sites includes bumper rides, where you can choose from the standard cars or the bumper boats; arcades, where a total of 200 games await you at three different locations; mini-golf, where guests of any age can enjoy a course at three different locations; and laser tag, where your family can enjoy the black-lit maze as you test your aim.

Purchase The Track Go Card for unlimited half prices for the entire family throughout the year at rides, mini-golf, laser tag, and games. During the entire month of July, however, you can enjoy the benefit of a full day with the card (9 a.m. to midnight), longer than you would any other month for the rest of the year.

Silver Dollar City Hosts KidsFest


On top of featuring great rides and shows year round, Silver Dollar City also hosts entertaining themed festivals throughout the year. For the summer months, Silver Dollar City has dedicated the park to kids with KidsFest.

KidsFest began on June 6 and will continue to August 9. Special features of the festival include JEERK, a performance group from Sweden, and the return of magician Peter Gossamer. JEERK is a group of six musicians and percussionists that combine music, dancing, stomp, and more for an entertaining show. Peter Gossamer is a world-renowned illusionist that will amaze your family with his unbelievable acts.

VeggieTales Presents: The Invention of Silliness will also be showing during KidsFest. This movie follows Pa Grape in his quest to invent the silliest song ever and features all of the other VeggieTales characters your family loves. If you are looking to get your hands dirty, visit the Kids Concoctions station, where the experts will show you how to make volcanoes and gooey gunk.

Of course, all of these special shows are free with regular Silver Dollar City admission. In addition, all of Silver Dollar City’s regular shows and rides will be open. With rides for every age, your whole family will find something to entertain them.

With so much to see and do at Silver Dollar City, it is easy to run out of time, so Silver Dollar City will begin its Moonlight Madness hours on July 27 through August 9. The park will be open until 10 p.m. to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
