FLW Outdoors Fishing Competition Returns to Branson, MO

FLW Outdoors Fishing Competition Returns to Branson, MO

The Forrest L. Wood Outdoors Fishing Competition, also known as the FLW Outdoors Fishing Competition, is coming to Branson, Missouri. The tournament will take place March 3rd through the 6th at the majestic Table Rock Lake. The natural beauty of the lake as well as the great fishing the lake has to offer is sure to make the competition enjoyable for those who enter it.

The competition will be for professional fishers as well as co-anglers. There is a $4,000 entry fee, which must be paid before being eligble to start fishing. Though the entry fee may seem expensive, the prizes to be won are great. The money prize for the first place winner on the professional level is $100,000. The prize money is projected on the assumption at least 150 boats will be in the competition. No more than 160 boats will be allowed to enter.

For everyone not participating in the fishing event, the entire Table Rock State Park Marina is closed. No one will be allowed to fish within 50 feet of any Commercial Marinas. For those entered or entering the fishing competition, good luck and happy fishing!

Branson will be hosting its Annual Women’s Veteran Week this year from May 19 – 24. The celebration typically features a week filled with activities and celebrations specifically geared around America’s many women veterans with past events having included Women Golf Day at Thousand Hills Golf Resort and various Meet and Greets.

Titanic Museum Hosts Free Ice Carving Competition

Titanic Museum Hosts Free Ice Carving Competition

Titanic Sloping DeckOn January 16, 2010, the Titanic Museum in Branson will host the 4th annual Ice Sculpture Competition, which is free to the public. Visitors can come and watch experienced carvers create works of art from solid blocks of ice.

 In last year’s event, 18 professional and amateur carvers worked on 250 pound blocks of ice to create a beautiful piece of art. During the event, visitors can talk to the carvers and see the works in progress. In addition, the National Ice Carving Association will be on hand to judge the pieces and announce the winning sculpture later in the day. The competition runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In other Titanic news, visitors have only a limited time left to enjoy two of the special exhibits at the Titanic. December 11 and 12 are the final days to see Santa’s Reindeer at the museum in Branson. The museum has several live reindeer on hand, and guests can take pictures and pet the reindeer. The reindeer are available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

In addition, the museum’s special exhibit about the Titanic movie directed by James Cameron will leave the ship on January 1, 2010, leaving visitors only a few days left to see this rare collection. The movie memorabilia collection contains pieces and artifacts from the movie, including set pieces and authentic costumes. The highlight of the collection is the diamond and sapphire necklace that boasts over 16 carats of diamonds and a 155 carat sapphire.

The Festival of Lights is located off Shepherd of the Hills Expressway and Roark Valley Road and is open until January 2. RFD TV TheatreThe RFD-TV Theatre in Branson has hosted a series of limited engagement concerts throughout the 2009 season. Two outstanding performances are coming up that you will not want to miss. Legendary country crooners Marty Stewart and Connie Smith will be gracing the stage at the RFD-TV Theatre on October 9, 10, 16, and 17. These musicians will be performing some of their best known hits from their legendary careers that span decades. Marty Stewart will bring his classic country twang to the stage, while Connie Smith will entertain guests with her signature soft gospel sounds.

In November, Brule and the American Indian Rock Opera are returning to the stage at the RFD-TV Theatre. These performers headlined in a show back in July and were so popular that they have returned for the first two weeks of November. This show features the the music of Brule, who sings a range of American Indian songs. The American Indian Rock Opera is one of the most engaging dance troupes in the country and offer an unbelievable performance featuring the traditional dances of the American Indians.
